Every CELTA Program Includes The Following Features
- Minimum of 100 hours of on-site instruction
- Minimum of 6 hours of supervised practice teaching with classes of foreign students
- Expert critiquing and discussion of all supervised practice lessons
- 8 hours of observation of EFL classes given by experienced teachers
- Maximum of 18 participants per course
Who Teaches CELTA Courses?To be effective, TEFL trainers need to have a sound grasp of TEFL theory and to have extensive EFL teaching experience. Every CELTA trainer has:
- an MA in TEFL/TESL (or a related field) or the RSA/Cambridge Diploma in TEFL;
- at least 5 years of EFL/ESL classroom teaching experience;
- completed an approved program of training as a TEFL/TESL trainer;
- to obtain annual re-approval as a CELTA trainer from Cambridge.
